NSW Blues routs Victoria, enters finals

The New South Wales convincingly beat Victorian Bushrangers in the first semi-final of the Champions League T20 tournament. And so convincing was their performance that it would have definitely put some kind of a fear in the minds of the other finalist – one of Trinidad and Tobago or Cape Cobras.

To begin with, the biggest victory for the NSW Blues was the toss. On a pitch that has assisted the teams batting first so well, the Blues decided to bat first. Then, David Warner played one of the best innings one could on this pitch – 48 off 25 balls – as it not stunned the opposition, but also set an excellent platform for the rest of the bowlers.

The other batsmen like Phil Hughes and Simon Katich chipped in well to get the total up to 169 – one of the biggest totals on the pitch.

If one expected the Bushrangers to make a match out of it, then Nathan Hauritz’s two wickets in the very second over of the innings ended all hopes. And at 6/3, the Bushrangers were all but out. Matthew Wade did try his best in the end, with a 23, but the game was well and truly gone by then. VB ended with 90/9 thus giving their opposition a 79-run win.

Warner was the obvious choice for the man of the match.
